Alliance for Safe, Sustainable and Resilient Environments (ASSURE) is comprised of environmental planners, architects, engineers and related professionals from all over the country, most of whom have extensive experience working with international development organizations, national government agencies, local government units, and the private sector including private consulting firms. Many of the volunteers have been directly involved with disaster risk mitigation and climate change adaptation work.
Dinky is the current chairman and principal urban planner of CONCEP Inc. He is an accredited Urban Development Specialist by the World Bank and Asian Development Bank. He has over 40 years experience in several projects of local governments, national agencies, private sector, and international assistance organizations. The focus of his recent and current projects include the revitalization of inner city areas, eco-system based integrated area development (IAD), and the mainstreaming of disaster risk reduction and mitigation in local development plans. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of the Philippines, Masters in Urban Planning from Columbia University in New York, U.S.A, and Ph.D in Public Administration from Pacific Western University in Hawaii, U.S.A.
Gerlie is a licensed Environmental Planner and her expertise are in the fields of disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM), land use planning, solid waste management, environmental impact assessments and policy research on socialized housing, community policing and solid waste management. She has done volunteer work for Gawad Kalinga for the Bayanihan GK Eco-village. She was the main local Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) DRRM expert that facilitated the preparation, approval and implementation of the National Disaster Response Plan for the NDRRMC.
Aya is a licensed Environmental planner and has been involved in projects concerning community-based resource management, capacity enhancement for local economic development and data gathering and management of water resources. She has a post graduate diploma in Urban and Regional Planning from UP School of Urban and Regional Planning, and also an alumna under the Human Settlements Planning Program of the UPLB College of Human Ecology. In 2016, she was selected as one of the delegates to the Harvard Project for Asian and International Relations held in the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She is currently a Planning Associate in CONCEP Inc.
Osang is a licensed Environmental Planner and Geodetic Engineer with experience in project coordination and management for planning-related projects with bilateral/multi-lateral aid agencies, national and local government offices. She has extensive experience in community-level capacity building, training module formulation, and workshop facilitation. She has also served as resource person in various trainings related to community planning and development, as well as disaster risk reduction and management. She completed B.S Geodetic Engineering and Master of Arts in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of the Philippines Diliman. She is currently a Partner in CONCEP Inc.
Tony is a licensed Civil Engineer and has a professional experience that spans 36 years. He has comprehensive skill in architectural and engineering project planning, development and coordination for both the public and private sector. For a time, he served as the Municipal Planning and Development Cordinator of Nagcarlan, Laguna but later on worked in Afghanistan for 4 years. He obtained his BS in Civil Engineering from the University of the Philippines and earned units in Master of Science in Structural Engineering from the same institution. He is the current Vice President for Engineering in MASO & ASSOC., Inc.
Teacher Dodie is a School Director, a Sociologist and a licensed Environmental Planner. A graduate of Diploma in Urban & Regional Planning (DURP) from the University of the Philippines, he has 20 years of professional experience in the spheres of social planning, environmental impact assessment, land-use planning, multi-stakeholder watershed planning & management, ecological monitoring & evaluation, disaster risk and reduction management and capacity building for disaster-prone communities. In-between family, teaching and development projects, he spends time in his advocacy of promoting sound agricultural, environmental and sustainable tourism practices in the uplands of Davao.
Oliver is a current member of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry Tacloban-Leyte and Eastern Visayas which have been in constant cooperation with ASSURE for the formulation of plans to support economic and social recovery efforts. He has been with ASSURE since 2014 and has inspired members with his stories of preparedness and survival from Typhoon Yolanda. He is COO of Welcome Home Leyte Holdings and manages a pension house in Tacloban which withstood the heavy winds, rains, and surge of Super Typhoon Yolanda. He also serves as the Private Sector Representative (PSR) for Business Groups in the Eastern Visayas Regional Development Council and is an active volunteer consultant/mentor on Business Resilience and Business Continuity Planning (BCP) under the PCCI Eastern Visayas Business Recovery Center.
Delia is an Environmental Planner for twenty-two years. She has been with the Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board for over twenty years where she directed the formulation of national standards for Comprehensive Land Use Planning, rules and regulations for housing, subdivision and condominium development. Aside from being a volunteer for ASSURE for almost three years and counting, she has also served as consultant for both national and international development aid organizations. Her expertise is sustainable urban land use planning; disaster risk management for safer & more resilient cities; strategic planning and management.
An Environmental Planner and Geodetic Engineer, Edrose started as one of the enthusiastic and young ASSURE volunteers who fearlessly went to Leyte on its early recovery and rehabilitation phase on February 2014. She is an alumna from the School of Urban and Regional Planning in University of the Philippines Diliman and Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies in Erasmus University Rotterdam. Her expertise includes water infrastructure project development and management and geodetic engineering.
